In the wake of Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica data scandal, a number of people have questioned the privacy of Facebook, and how all your data can be easily accessed by all.
However, if you're smart, you can alter your privacy settings in such a way so that only a select few people of your choice can see what you post on the social media network.
Here are a few simple steps by step solution on how you can prevent Facebook from intruding your privacy settings completely.
To access all the privacy settings
The layout of Facebook changes slightly depending on whether you're using the mobile app or using it on a browser on desktop.
Click "Account Settings," now tap on "Privacy."
Manage Your Profile
To manage your profile just double check who all can see what's in your general Facebook profile.
Tap "Manage your profile" to manage settings of your profile.
Typically, you can choose between:
In the main menu, you can now click on Timeline and Tagging. This menu changes slightly depending on whether you're using the app or the mobile site, but the core items stay the same. Similar to your privacy settings, Timeline and Tagging gives you the option to choose who can write on your timeline or if you want to be tagged by anybody.
Like all apps today, Facebook asks if you want to share your location. If you don't want to, go to the Locations Setting and click Disable if you don't want your location shared. Interestingly, you won't be able to 'Check In' to any place if you disable this setting
There are people and pages that you can block on FB. Just go to the blocked person setting and type the name of the person or page that you want to block on FB
A number of secondary apps that you download on your phone, which include games and fitness apps, ask whether you want to connect with Facebook. You need not choose the option, which means that if you ever buy a new phone, all your previous data from your old phone will be deleted. However, it's still better than sharing data
