When love is a puppy called Nick

Nick Jonas has that look. You know, of the puppy that thinks the world of its human. The puppy that thinks its human is the best thing to have happened to him. The puppy that probably sleeps with its eyes open — because it does not wish to let its human out of sight. Even if for a blink.

The puppy that thinks fetching the stick or the ball a thousand times every day is the least he could do to please its human, who deserves to be pleased, worshipped, adored every moment of her life. The puppy that wants to kiss the ground she treads in her Loubs or roll over where she walks barefoot. A puppy that believes in making her smile is its raison d’être.

And at the moment, there are thousands of women who wish they had a Nick Jonas in their lives.

Think about it. What does a successful woman, who is as much a star in the US as she is in India, want from life? She can buy enough solitaires and apartments to please herself. She can pick the finest designers to walk the classiest red carpets. She does not need a man to buy her more of the stuff she already has. But someone to watch her dance barefoot in the Mumbai rain and swing her shapely hips as she runs to his arms? Yes! Someone who will take her to his family weddings and will happily tag along with her when she meets her own family in India? Absolutely! Someone who will simply post a video of her with a love emoticon, and the word ‘her’… gosh, yes of course!   

There is something about an older woman dating a younger man. No, not many of the hot young guys out there are dealing with mommy issues. But for the modern woman, successful in her own right, a younger date will have fewer complicated back stories, would not want to control her and would love to play the world, together. The woman does not need to prove herself, or keep pace with her partner, in case he is the older and the more successful one. She does not have to turn into a trophy wife and neither does she need to edit her self to fit into his world.

Plus, as any man who has dated an older woman will testify, it is great to have a stimulating conversation after stimulating sex. A conversation that is not always about getting married and having babies or millennial career goals. PeeCee ain’t no gold digger, and we dare you to call her a cougar. Are we not toasting a Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt romance that has blurred the age lines?  

So two-thumbs up to Ms Chopra for her moment in the love sun. As for Nick Jonas? As long as he has that look in his eyes, you know he’s busy counting his lucky stars.
