Hi! I am a trans girl from Pune and want to do drag. Can I? Or is it just for gay men? Where do I start? I’d love to train under you...

Of course, you can perform! As a legendary drag performer (who?) keeps reiterating ‘If you have charisma, uniqueness, talent, and nerve to wow the audiences, drag is for you!’

Drag doesn’t judge you on basis of gender or sexual orientation. It strives to propagate the message of art without labels, so it is not just for gay men.

To start with, you can watch some live performances to learn from close quarters. There are also make-up tutorials by drag artistes all over the internet which will help you immensely. Follow performers on social media to pick up some stage essentials.

The main thing to keep in mind is that you have to make your audience happy and worth their while, this will automatically create a fan base and then you are pretty much sorted.

Develop signature dialogue and expressions to go with your drag name and character. The name itself should be catchy but not too difficult.

If and when you have this sorted, come along for the next auditions I hold under the watchful eyes of our Mother Supreme (as we call him), Mr Keshav Suri in Mumbai. If you make the cut, you could perform at Kitty Su in Mumbai.
