Watch: Segway inventor Dean Kamen and Toyota revive the iconic iBot wheelchair

Coming from the inventor of the segway, Dean Kamen and the automobile giant Toyota, iBot is by far the most advanced wheelchair the world has seen.

Priced at a steep $25000 dollars per unit, this device did not gain much popularity back in the 90's when it was released. Consequentially, the production of this highly functional wheelchair was discontinued in 2009.

However, Toyota recently announced on their website that they are teaming up with Dean Kamen to bring back the iBot.

Besides having the capability of going over rough terrain, iBot also enables the person using it, to climb steep staircases and elevate to the height of a standing person.

To bring the next generation of iBot back, Toyota is going to work with Kamen's DEKA Research. Although no release date or price has been announced, considering the previous version's history, it can be assumed that the newer version would be priced more reasonably.
