Watch: Dave Hakkens and his DIY machines take recycling plastic waste to another level

Meet Dave Hakkens, a cum laude graduate from Design Academy Eindhoven who taken recycling of plastic waste to a new level.

As a part of the Precious Plastic projecthe designed a set of DIY machines that include a shredder, an extruder, an injection moulder and a rotation moulder, all of which can be used to recycle plastic waster. They easily mould waste plastic into different sorts of shapes, serving various utilities.

So, instead of having the plastic end up in ocean beds or landfills or inside animals, it can be shredded and moulded to the shape of a flower pot or even a clock!

Dave Hakkens's designs have been made open source, and the videos have been shared as well— all in the hope of a better tomorrow.
