ShareBEIJING: Chinese experts have unveiled the country's first personal robot that can live at home and provide services, including logging on to the Internet.
Liangliang, an argentous robot of about 80 centimetres tall, is able to walk and navigate through obstacles at ease and can even perform duties instructed by humans.
Its developer, the Shenyang-based Xinsong Automation Company affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said the personal robot is able to provide services of education, entertainment and security and as a personal assistant.
In the presentation debut, a staff sent a mobile phone short message to the robot inquiring about the situations at home and, in two minutes Liangliang replied with a message: temperature 22 degrees Celsius and everything normal at home.
The robot can also log on to the Internet and tell its owners the latest news and weather forecasts.
Earlier this week, China had also unveiled the country's first robot for inspection of extra-high tension electricity transmission lines.
The robot, which can move freely on and examine conditions of 500 KW power transmission lines, is the first of its kind in the world, according to the inventor, the Shenyang Institute of Automation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
