There are many ways to spend a quality day with a beloved, but it's hard to imagine one that excludes amazing food from the picture. That’s precisely why restaurant search and discovery app Zomato has partnered with dating app Tinder for Valentine's Day this year.

While both apps are immensely popular in the own rights, they generally go hand in hand where the dating scene is concerned. As a Valentine's Day special, the two have come together to create a 'Tinderlicious' collection on Zomato, advising would be love-chasers on what the most happening or most romantic places are in their city. The 'Tinderlicious’ Collection will be available in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh.

As Pramod Rao, SVP Growth at Zomato, puts it, the whole idea behind this tie-up is to make Valentine’s Day memorable for Zomato's users. “We are really kicked about this collection, as it involves the best restaurants and bars you can find in a city. At the end of the day, the dining experience has to be seamless and that's what we've tried here. Zomato is all about awesome food and we couldn't think of anyone else other than Tinder for this partnership.”

Valentine’s Day is an exciting day for Zomato and Tinder. For Zomato, it draws the largest amount of attention from users, only second to New Year's Eve. So, the anticipation from Zomato's end is palpable - the reason why they have curated some of the finest places. Naturally, this is also one of Tinder’s busiest times of the year as people look to make new connections and hope to find their Valentine.

Taru Kapoor, Country Head - India, Tinder said, “Tinder has changed the way people meet and date across the world. In India, we have seen a rapid growth in popularity, with downloads increasing by more than 400 percent last year. We make continued efforts to give our users in India an engaging experience.”

Last year, Zomato saw a 50 percent increase in the time users spent on the Collections page on Valentine's Day, as compared to the week before. People seem to decide where they will go for Valentine’s Day well in advance, as seen with the steady increase in page views on the ‘Romantic’ Collection in the days leading up to the February 14. Traffic was dominated by women (60:40 in Mumbai; 55:45 in Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Pune), clearly establishing who the decision maker is for where Valentine’s Day will be spent. Interestingly, Chinese happened to be the most-searched cuisine on Valentine’s Day in 2015.
