Youtube's updates the Android app to play vertical videos in full screen

Vertical videos are just terrible. Thankfully, if you can't fix the problem's source, you can find a way around it.

Vertical videos are the bane of YouTube aficionados. Check the comments section of any vertically shot video on the site and you'll see an outpouring of criticism, sarcasm and, occasionally, even threat of torture. And yet there are still people that shoot like that. But you can't fix people, so what do you do instead? You fix the medium. 

Google has updated the YouTube app (v10.28) for Android to properly resize vertical videos for full screen. Where it would earlier just rotate the entire thing to a landscape mode, thereby minimising and ruining it further, the video now properly stretches to the corners of the screen in portrait mode. The downside is you still have to watch a vertical video, but I guess you're going to have to live with that. The update is rolling out on the Google Play Store, so make sure you update before you end up tearing your hair out. You can find a link here.
