Google will now let users in India look for available Ola and Uber cabs right from its browser. Previously, only Google Maps had the option to avail for a vehicle from the cab-hailing services.

The collaboration will let customers search for direction to a specific location and request a cab without leaving the web browser. The feature is available on the mobile and desktop versions of Google.

A user can request for a cab by typing keywords -- like Taxi to Mumbai railway station, Uber for Delhi Airport, Taxi to Bangalore airport, or Ola to Bangalore airport -- users will be presented with an option to book a cab from Ola and Uber. Selecting a cab from either service will automatically open the app of that particular service. If the app is not installed, Google will present a user with the installation link to the desired app. Users will also be shown the estimated fare and pick up time of the available cab.

The option to book a cab will also appear when users look for directions.

“Choosing the best transit option can be a task at times, our aim is to help users simplify their everyday travel. With this, users will be able to order, explore and make quick comparisons about the best estimated taxi fare directly from Google Search results on their mobile,” said Sanket Gupta, Program Manager, Google.

With the new feature, a user can view both services side by side to get the best deal. In addition, there is no need to open both apps meaning that customers will save cellular mobile data.
