Xiaomi launches Redmi 3S and 3S Prime in India starting at Rs 6,999

With a large 4100 mAh battery and a premium metal body, Redmi 3S sets a new benchmark for sub-10K smartphones in India

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 3S in India, a device that has a super long-lasting 4100 mAh battery, while the higher-memory Redmi 3S Prime also features a fingerprint sensor.

Crafted with a metal body, the Redmi 3S is 10 percent thinner than Redmi 2. It has a 5-inch HD display with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front cam. It features a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). It’s powered by a 4100mAh battery and has dual SIM and 4G support. Available in Dark Grey, Silver, and Gold, the Redmi 3S will be priced at Rs 6,999.

The Redmi 3S Prime meanwhile, is a slightly upgraded version. In addition to the features and specs in the 3S, the 3S Prime also features a fingerprint sensor, as well as improved 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device will retail for Rs 8,999.

Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi, commented saying, “I am thrilled to be introducing a Redmi device and once again change the game in the sub-10k smartphone industry in India. Redmi 3S packs a punch with a large 4100 mAh battery that easily powers through two days of usage on a single charge, and is the first smartphone in India powered by the Snapdragon 430.”

Both Redmis 3S and 3S Prime will be initially available exclusively on Mi.com and Flipkart, starting with the Redmi 3S Prime on August 9, 12 noon onwards. The Redmi 3S will be available at starting August 17 from 12 noon onwards
