Apple has officially set out invitations for a special event that will take place on October 16. "It's been way too long" reads the invite. The event will take place much akin its earlier iPhone 6 and 6 plus launch at Cupertino, California. However unlike the launch for iPhone6 and iPhone6 plus and unvieling of the apple Watch that took place earlier on September 9 at the Flint Center, this launch will take place at the Town hall Auditorium.

At the event Apple Inc. is expected to reveal the new iPad, iMac, MacBook and also the new MacBook Air. The new generations iMacs and MacBookpros are expected to be faster and have higher configuration. There have also been talks of a desktop version of the MacBookAir 12 inches Retina Display. While Apple has been quite open about the new operating system OS X Yosemite which will be a complete revamp as far as user experience is concerned for Apple's desktop range not much is known about the new range of iPads, but as expected rumours of how the new iPad and iPad Air 2 will look are doing rounds of the internet.

A Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn reports that the new iPad air will essentially look like a bigger version of the iPhone 6 plus and will most probably have 7 mm thickness, will be much lighter and improved specifications. Reports of other features like anti-reflective screen, Touch ID and newer colour options have also surfaced. While Microsoft is lagging behind with its Surface tablets, Apple is expected to release what is speculated to be the 13" iPad or perhaps a larger screen tablet.

Reports also indicate that Apple will introduce a new "gold" colour to its current gray and silver variations.

According to reports on Bloomberg, the timing of the new iPads is showing a positive buying trend with 60 per cent people surveyed saying yes they are looking forward to the launch and would want to buy it.

iPad sales have in fact declined in the past year dropping from $32 billion to $25 billion in 2014. So is Apple Inc relying on its new range of iPhones and iPads to boost its sales before the holiday season? Only time will tell.
