With the release of the Huawei MateBook targeted at business professionals, Huawei says it can compete with top competitors like Microsoft’s Surface Pro and Apple's iPad Pro. So it obviously begs the question: which one comes out on top?

Display

All three companies offer high-end resolution, making it a bit had to judge. We noticed a subtle difference in the ppi (pixels per inch): Microsoft Surface Pro packs 267 pixels per inch narrowly beating the the iPad Pro’s 264 ppi while the MateBook staggers behind with 216 ppi. Though the iPad has the biggest screen at 12.9 inches the Surface Pro 4 doesn’t fall far behind with 12.3-inch screen while the MateBook has a 12-inch screen. The Surface Pro also has features like PixelSense and 10 point multi-touch which puts it on top.

Processor

The iPad Pro has a 2.26GHz Apple A9X third-generation chip based on a 64-bit architecture, along with an M9 motion coprocessor, while the Huawei MateBook has a 6th Gen Intel Core M processor that clocks up to 3.1GHz. Microsoft’s Surface Pro narrowly nabs this one, pushing out upto 3.4 GHz on the highest settings.

Storage and RAM

With a maximum 1TB of internal storage and 16GB of RAM,  Microsoft Surface Pro dominates its competitors, offering almost ten times more storage and four times more RAM compared to the iPad Pro (with its 128GB storage and 4GB of RAM). The margin is narrowed with the Matebook, but 512GB of storage and 8GB of RAM cannot compete with with the Surface Pro.

Sensors

The iPad Pro and the MateBook offer a few more sensors than Microsoft’s tablet: the latter doesn't even have a fingerprint scanner. Without getting into too much detail, the iPad Pro and MateBook have about the same sensors except for a barometer in the iPad and a hall sensor

in the MateBook, so at the end of the day it's completely up to user preference.

So while there are clear differences in both features and specifications, it comes down to how much the new Huawei MateBook will be priced at. Stay tuned as we bring you updates as they become available.
