BMW has announced yet another concept vehicle of the future. This time, it’s a bike powered by artificial intelligence that is reportedly so safe that the manufacturers claim it will require no helmet or any other protective gear while riding.

BMW follows suit to harbour a sense of luxury in this vehicle. In fact, if the company has its way--people won’t ever need to put their feet on the ground as the German luxury vehicles manufacturers have confirmed that the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 motorcycle will balance itself.

The bike’s self-balancing system will not only keep the bike upright while moving but will also keep it erect while standing still. Completely negating the need to balance the vehicle at any point. The bike will also have a shape shifting “flexframe” that bends while the vehicle is turning a corner, hence nullifying the need for joints seen in modern motorcycles.

Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the bike is the "electronic safety cage" that will communicate with smart technology and sensors to avoid crashing and of course, it is electric powered (because at this point, why not?)

The vehicle will come with “Digital Companion” technology which will alert and help riders in potentially dangerous situations, and a ‘Visor’ with a HUD which uses augmented reality to display important information to its rider.

The only thing that is ‘old school’ on this bike, is the black triangle shape that is designed to resemble the first BMW bike ever made: The BMW R32 launched in 1923.

However, BMW hasn't announced an official timeframe or any plans to launch the vehicle anytime soon. Furthermore, it is a concept vehicle, meaning that it is unclear which of these features will make it to the final cut. So the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 may remain in the prototype phase for years to come. Until then, riders will have to balance their bikes the old fashion way.
