Don’t fall for pranksters recent claims of a hidden Easter egg on your iPhone that will display a retro logo. What is will actually do is brick your Phone, meaning that it will become completely useless.

The sadistic prank was first seen on 4chan, claiming that if you set the date on your iPhone back to January 1, 1970, you will see a retro Apple logo which purportedly looks like this:

If you decide to try this, your iPhone will be as useful as a brick, maybe even less useful considering that a brink can do more damage. Even Apple’s own technicians (know as Geniuses) can't comprehend what is wrong with the Easter egged devices. The best they can do is offer a replacement.

According to Ars Technica, the problem occurs as January 1, 1970, is the first day of the Unix epoch. Ars Technica also claim that if the battery is completely drained the date will be reset, rendering the device ‘uneaster-egged’ and usable.

Only iPhone 5S models or higher can be pranked and besides that it takes quite a bit of effort. A YouTuber who goes by the name Zach Straley perfectly shows what you need to do to brick your device.
