Vodafone launches 4G LTE services in Delhi-NCR

The capital now has access to Vodafone’s high-speed cellular network

Following the launch of their 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala, Vodafone has commenced services of their high-speed wireless network in the Delhi-NCR circle.

To access this network, a handset that supports the FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800MHz) standard will be required, along with a compatible 4G SIM card.

To quicken adoption of their new network, the cellular provider is offering a free SIM upgrade to existing customers from their current one, which will be done at select Vodafone outlets. User can also opt for home delivery of these 4G SIM cards.

As part of the upgrade offers, the company is also offering three months of free access to mobile television, movies (through HOOQ and Hungama Play,) and music (via Vodafone Play Services.) Users will also have access to 4G Mobile Wi-Fi, which can be utilized with up to 10 devices simultaneously.

Prices of the 4G data packs will start at Rs. 11 for 35MB of data up to Rs. 2,499 for 20GB.

Vodefone’s new 4G network infrastructure in this region is being provied by Chinese equipment manufacturer Huawei.

From the spectrum auctions in February 2014, they secured licenses to operate their 4G LTE network in five circles across the country: Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Kerala and Karnataka.

After the Delhi-NCR launch, Mumbai and Bengaluru are expected to be next.
