Reports that Twitter India had suspended the account handles of several users set the social media platform abuzz on Saturday. While some said that they had done nothing that could be classified as "spam" for their account to be disabled, others claimed that only "right-wing" Twitter handles had suffered the suspension.

@Stupidosaur tweeted a screenshot of the notification he received from Twitter with terms and conditions to get his account back.
What the heck. @Twitter had suspended my account. And the first checkbox didn't even show what I accepted. pic.twitter.com/9JGrYvoqAJ

@rupasubramanya asked people to look through her timeline and point out which tweet had got her account suspended in the first place.
Meanwhile, Raheek Khursheed of Twitter India said he could not offer any definitive reason for the suspensions, but would look into the problem.
.@rupasubramanya Have no context to this. Anything I say right now will fall in the realm of speculation. Will check. @vdehejia

Wish I had taken a screenshot of what I had to do to get my a/c unsuspended but @TwitterIndia clearly told me I had to change my "behaviour"
— Rupa Subramanya (@rupasubramanya) November 1, 2014
Although some accounts are now back and running online, Twitter is ablaze with speculations of why the action was taken.
My a/c has been suspended twice. Once for 4 days. Twitter India wanted me to write *Parody Account* in my Twitter Bio & change display name

My 2 paisa - this account suspension thing could be a technical issue. More likely than intentional suspension

@barbarindian @rupasubramanya I'm nt sure if even Twitter had such an innocuous excuse, they do now. :-)

While some tried to figure out why their accounts were suspended and made sure to tweet their disgruntlement, others did not miss the opportunity to take a dig at Twitter India.
As Twitter India starts suspending handles, today I wouldn't poke any politicians. Thanks!

Relax guys, Twitter India ne BJP se samarthan wapas le liya hai. Suspended accounts will be back once Amit Shah makes a call.

Where you can find better suspension system in India? 1. Mahindra Scorpio 2. Indian Police and, 3. Twitter India.

Awww, are the right-wingers sad now that all the attention's gone & it's turned out that even non-Hindutva bhakts had suspended handles?
