Social networking site Twitter is reportedly planning to track apps downloaded by its users to provide them with a "more personal" experience, by providing them with content of their interest.

CNET reported that in the Security and Privacy section of its support site, the company said that it will be collecting and occasionally updating the list of apps installed on users' mobile devices so it can deliver tailored content that the users might be interested in".

The company said that it would also use the data to work on its suggestions for accounts to follow and to add tweets, accounts, or other content to users' timeline.

Twitter has assured users that it will only track the applications installed, and not any data from within the applications, the report added.
