Twitter rolls out Highlights feature for viewing updates that matter

Ever felt that you’ve missed out on key updates while you were away from Twitter? The micro-blogging behemoth now makes it easier to catch up with the new Highlights feature being rolled out.

This new feature automatically collates Tweets that are tailored for a particular user. The choice of Tweets is based upon several factors including popular conversations from Twitter accounts followed, Tweets from account within the user’s network, and trending topics and events.

To enable this functionality, you’ll need to ensure that notifications are enabled for your mobile device. Do this by tapping the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the app, then tap Settings. Select the account you need to enables Highlights for, then tap mobile notifications to ensure they are activated. Tick the box adjacent to Highlights and that’s it.

Users will receive a Highlights notifications a few times a day and can tap it to view the relevant Tweets in a special interface within the Twitter client itself. Simply swipe right to left to cycle through the updates.. Highlights can also be viewed on demand by tapping the three dots at the upper right of the interface.

This feature is currently available only for Android users, and is present in version 5.55 of the Twitter Android client, although the ‘best Highlights experience’ recommends version 5.73 or higher.
