A new update for the iOS app lets you turnburst shots and videos into GIFs.

Tumblr has pushed out an update to its iOS app today, letting users turn their photo bursts and videos into GIFs. It even works autonomously, selecting the best picture in your camera roll to turn into GIFs and showing them alongside the others.
If the app finds a long video in your album or a lot of photos in sequence, it'll ask you if you want to edit it down to a GIF length of about three seconds. You can even slow down or speed up the GIF, and select whether you want it to visibly restart or loop endlessly. This update plays into Tumblr's GIF-focused strategy lately, sectioning of a GIF-only tab, introducing a search box for GIFs, and even having videos autoplay on mute as you scroll past and loop endlessly; just like GIFs.
And they're not the only platform upping their GIF game. Giphy released their easy-to-use GIF maker little while ago, Instagram launched a standalone GIF recording app Boomerang, and even Facebook has said they're swapping out Profile pictures with looping video instead.
Tumblr's GIF creator update is on iOS today and will coming to Android soon.
