There aren’t many games out there that make you sit back and question life. That take your mind on a trip that stretches the bounds of your imagination. ‘Everything’ is one such title. Despite the deceptive simplicity of its name, Everything is an adventure in exploring the our world. It’s a game that lets you play as, well, virtually anything: a flower, a planet, an atom, a squid--this game lets you chart out a course as any of these creatures or objects.

Released for the PlayStation 4 earlier this week, this $15 game (approx. Rs 982) is a massive, virtual sandbox. From the vast scope of a galaxy to the minuscule depth of a subatomic particle, you can control practically any object depicted in the game by simply selecting it. The title was the brainchild of a three-person team, where each of the game’s elements has its own AI, and continues to interact with other objects while playing their events, just like real life.

It’s a game that triggers many existential questions, and it stands to reason that it was inspired by a philosopher -- British thinker Alan Watts, in this case. The game itself isn’t as graphically advanced as many A-listers today (the creatures and objects aren’t animated as you’d expect them to be, they simply somersault all over the place,) but it’s an intriguing delve into our existence, and the continuity of life. The game is currently only available on PS4, but is expected to release for Mac and PC on 21 April.
