After Chinese investors bought Vertu back in 2015, it was hopeful that their next product would be promising, however the product was anything but that. The Vertu and Bentley collaboration has resulted in a rather standard device, even though it's a rehash of the original Vertu Signature Touch smartphone from 2014, we were hoping that it would at least offer features that most premium smartphone have in the current market.

The Vertu Signature Touch houses a pretty standard 5.2-inch full-HD display with a surprisingly regular 1080x1920 resolution (translating to a pixel density of 428.) What isn't standard however, is Sapphire Crystal screen which is cut from a single piece of 130-carat solid sapphire.

It is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop, a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 4GB of RAM. The rear camera is a 21MP phase detection autofocus unit with f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera though is just 2.1MP--but wait, don't the well-heeled don't love to post examples of their excesses? It also comes with 64GB inbuilt storage (expandable upto 2TB via microSD card) and a 3160 mAh Li-ion battery that supports Qi Compatible Wireless Charging.

The device is covered with two-tone Beluga, Hotspur Bentley leather and is woven together with Hotspur stitching. Vertu Signature Touch owners will also be given the option to choose between  eight leather colours and 16 stitching options. The collaboration also adds that the new device will features Bentley's 3D logo, knurled side keys, a unique pillow rail and a sound bar.

True to form it has a host of preloaded concierge apps that deliver exclusive content to users like VIP access to private clubs, sporting events and more. A special app will also let you integrate the Vertu Signature Touch to a range of Bentley Models.

“Vertu Certainty” lets you access Lost Phone service, which allows owners to remotely lock and wipe the phone if lost or stolen.

High-end leather and supercar branding notwithstanding, the phone lacks several capabilities that warrant presence in a top-shelf device such as this: there is no 4K support, it has a very middle-of-the-road 1080p screen, and the front camera is a pitiful 2 megapixels!

But the Vertu Signature Touch for Bentley is priced $9,000 (about Rs. 6 lakhs) and will be available with AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.

Of course, this phone is chump change compared to another one of their astronomically-priced ($26,000) variants.
