Large-battery Asus Zenfone 3S Max launched in India for Rs 14,999

Sporting a 5,000mAh battery, this phone aimes to deliver multi-day battery life in a relatively compact form factor.

Taiwanese mobile company Asus has just released the Zenfone 3S Max, featuring a 5,000mAh battery, 5.2inch HD IPS display, 13MP main camera and 8MP front camera. The phone is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-core 64-bit processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory that is expandable to 2TB via MicroSD. The phone also features Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with features like split-window and multi-window modes.

Its title feature -- the large battery -- allegedly delivers 34 days of standby time on 4G, 28 hours of talk time on 3G, 18 hours of video playback and 25 hours of Wi-Fi Web browsing. The smartphone also has five selectable power modes to optimize performance and help extend the battery life – Performance mode, Normal mode, Power saving mode, Super saving mode and a Customized mode.

The phone's 5.2-inch screen is encased within an aluminum-alloy body that has a sandblasted matte finish. The display also features a built-in blue light filter that aims to reduce eye strain when using the device in dark environments for prolonged periods.

The phone's fingerprint sensor at front unlocks the phone in under a second, and registers up to five separate fingerprints, while providing recognition irrespective of the orientation of the fingertip.

On the camera front, the phone features a 13MP PixelMaster 3.0 primary camera that supports Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF,) with an ƒ/2.0 aperture and dual LED real-tone flash for capturing photographs in low-light conditions. The camera shoots videos in Full HD (1920x1080) resolution. At the front, the smartphone features an 8MP camera that supports an 85-degree field of view, and modes like Beautification mode, HDR mode and Low-light mode. 

The phone is available from today via online and offline retail outlets, priced at Rs 14,999, and will be sold in two colour variants: Black and Gold.
