Teewe 2 video streaming dongle launched

The homegrown Chromecast competitor will be available on Amazon.in, along with special offers from ErosNow and Airtel Broadband

Mango Man Consumer Electronics has announced a follow-up to their original HDMI media streaming dongle--the Teewe 2. This thumb-sized device, priced at Rs 2,399 (Rs 600 lower than the Chromecast, incidentally) will be available with pre-orders starting today on the Teewe website and the sale taking place on Amazon.in on 25 May 2015.

To bolster the video offerings, the company has also announced a partnership with ErosNow, the online entertainment division of Bollywood studio Eros International. With this partnership, Teewe 2 users will receive a free two-months premium subscription to ErosNow comprising an extensive catalogue of Indian video entertainment. This partnership is yet to go live; no specific date has been communicated.

The company has also announced a partnership with Airtel Broadband where the cellular operator’s customers ordering Teewe devices will be provided 20GB per month of free data for three consecutive months. Customers ordering the Teewe 2 will also receive an extended year’s warranty on the device.

The Teewe 2 is powered by a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor with a quad-core GPU running at 1.6GHz, and contains 1GB of RAM. The device is 30 percent smaller than its predecessor the Teewe 1, and has a detachable power adapter and cable for added flexibility during setup.

Mango Man Consumer Electronics was funded by angel investors that include Kavin Bharti Mittal (of Hike Messenger fame,) Pavan Ongole of Bharti SoftBank, Arun Seth (ex-British Telecom) and Palaash Ventures.
