Sony’s PlayStation Network team announced that the PSN network will be stripped down for two hours at 10:00pm, Indian Standard Time, April 18 (9:30am PST), for maintenance.

According to Sony’s official website, the downtime is necessary so that they can bring new features to PSN as well as reducing network issues so that users can get the most out of their accounts in the coming months

Sony explains that during the PSN upkeep, users will still be able to do the basics like sign into their PlayStation Network account, play games as well as use some applications. What users can’t do is gain access to PlayStation Store, Account Management setting or view PlayStation Video.

"We apologize for any inconvenience. We strive to ensure that PlayStation Network services are available at all times, but occasionally we must take PlayStation Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements," said the company.

PlayStation 4’s 3.5 firmware was released earlier this month with some intriguing features like remote play to PC or Mac and an ‘appear offline’ feature so that user can game without any interruption, so it will be interesting to see what Sony has in store for us this time around.
