Scientists are planning to record "every sound the Earth makes", from the songs of birds to the vibrations made by ocean waves, via online sensors in Indiana, which will run for a year.

According to the soundscape ecologist, Bryan Pijanowski, listening to the "rhythms of nature", like the dawn chorus and certain crescendos during the seasons, could help know important things about the state of the natural, the Verge reported.

Pijanowski, who had earlier launched a Global Soundscape Project, which is building a map of the world's sounds using an app that turns phones into recorders, said that working with musicians helped one to think about the orchestration of an ecosystem.
