Samsung is reportedly set to unveil a smartphone with a curved display in October. Curved displays are already incorporated in large-screen televisions offered by companies including Samsung; however, such displays are still in a nascent stage when it comes to smartphones.
According to News24, the curved displays are supposed to offer a more immersive viewing experience but are more expensive than standard screens. The report said that the technology still faces a major challenge in making other handset components, such as batteries, that can bend with the rest of the unit.
The company recently unveiled its latest range of Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch along with its Galaxy Note III series.
