Samsung plans to bring in the new year with much fervor. Reports suggest that the Korean giant has begun mass production of 5.25-inch QHD (Quad HD) AMOLED display set for the upcoming Galaxy S5.

According to a report in Korean publication DDaily, the new display has a diamond pixel arrangement like the S4 and Note 3′s display – green pixels interleaved with alternating red and blue pixels, but with each red and blue pixel shaped like a diamond for increased sharpness and pixel density.

The Galaxy S5 is expected to sport a Snapdragon 800/805 processor/64-bit Exynos processor, 3GB of RAM, 16-megapixel camera, and Android 4.4 KitKat.

Many rumours have been revolving around the hugely anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5. Various reports about the phone being waterproof, dustproof and boasting the fingerprint technology have been doing the rounds.

Previous rumors have also indicated that the Galaxy S5 will feature a uni-body metal design. Even a new camera technology to improve the image quality and feel could be seen in the S5.

Another report also claims that the 2014 flagship phone could be announced as early as January,  in a bid to overcome 'disappointing' Galaxy S4 sales.

As per the report in DDaily, there would be two variants of the Galaxy S5, a premium variant which would sport a metal chassis and a flexible OLED, and a variant which will come with the usual plastic body, as found on other Galaxy smartphones.
