Residents in Los Angeles called the Police when Facebook went down, according to a tweet from a sergeant in the L.A. County Sheriff's Department (LASD).

Facebook went down early on Friday that compelled people in the area to call the law enforcement agency that had nothing to do with the issue.

According to CNET, the Sheriff's Department found it necessary to explain to the L.A. residents that issues like these had nothing to do with the LASD.

The department also said that a social networking site such as Facebook was not a legal matter and that people should not call 911 in such cases.
