Reliance Jio: Mukesh Ambani announces free data, voice calls till March 31

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries addressed a crowd today in Mumbai and announced that Reliance Jio has extended its promotional offer of free data and voice calls till March 31, 2017. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries addressed a crowd today in Mumbai and announced that Reliance Jio has extended its promotional offer of free data and voice calls till March 31, 2017. Additionally, the company made a few more important announcements. Let’s take a quick look:

1. Starting 4 December, every new user will get Jio's data, voice, video and other content services of Jio applications for free, till 31 March 2017. This is known as the Jio Happy New Year Offer.

2. The existing 52 million users will continue to enjoy the Welcome Offer till 31 December, and then automatically be signed up for the New Year Offer. There will be no need to buy a new SIM.

3. Mukesh Ambani revealed that on an average, Jio customers are using 25 times more data than an average broadband customer.

4. Jio has also rolled out eKYC (know your customer) across 2 lakh outlets in India. This is nearly equal to total number of ATMs in India. The company aims to double this number by March 2017.

5. SIM cards are being home-delivered and activated in 5 minutes through eKYC as well.

6. Mukesh Ambani stated that the company hasn’t received required support from existing operators. In the last 3 months, nearly 900 crore voice calls from Jio to the networks of our 3 largest competitors were blocked.

7. 80 percent of its Jio users consumed 1GB data per day, while 20 percent consumed higher. Reliance Jio has announced a new daily FUP (Fair Usage Police) limit of 1GB, which if exhausted will result in slower speeds.

8. Jio has crossed 50 million users and can now be touted as the fastest growing tech firm, overtaking Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype.

9. Jio has also introduced Aadhaar-based paper-less Jio SIM activation across 3,100 cities and towns in India.

10. Mukesh Ambani thanked PM Narendra Modi for his decision to demonetize the old currency.
