Bringing out the big guns for the first day of its annual show Quakecon 2016, which runs until August 7 in Dallas, Texas, publisher Bethesda Softworks presented trailers for first-person action games "Prey" and "Quake Champions" as well as Unto the Evil, the first paid expansion for May 2016's "Doom."

- Prey -

Rafael Colantonio, co-creative director at Arkane Studios and currently best known for 2012's multiple approach action-adventure "Dishonored," presented a first look at the interactive portion of sci-fi title "Prey" -- balancing out a cinematic-heavy reveal at June's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

As such, there's a chance to see the tentacular alien lifeforms that the main character (and human experiment candidate) grapples with, while a voiceover does all the explaining.

In a separate video just released, Colantonio delves into some of the details from that first E3 reel. Due 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

The fourth entry in one of gaming's quintessential first-person action game franchises, a hellish, gory "Doom" was released across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC in May.

Its first paid expansion, Unto the Evil, is focused on the multiplayer experience, adding three new arenas, a new weapon, a new tool, and a new monster to play as. Only one player in a group need own the expansion for others to be able to take part. Now available.

- Quake Champions -

A first opportunity to see a decent slice of gameplay from another franchise reinvention, the first new "Quake" game in over ten years places its emphasis on speed, skill, and pinpoint accuracy. And, it has to be said, making your enemies go splat.

Players nimbly traverse a multi-leveled gothic ruin which houses a cathedral interior, winding stairs, corridor runs and a verdant exterior as the contestants hurtle along, engaging in close-range and long distance combat. Expected on PC from 2017.
