PSY nearly breaks YouTube with well over 2 billion views

South Korean pop sensation PSY was already huge in his own country, when he crossed over from regional to worldwide superstar in 2012. But nothing can be more proof of his popularity than his smash hit Gangnam Style almost breaking YouTube. 

PSY's hit song was the first ever entry on the vido sharing platform to hit 1 billion views, a number that has since continued to grow. And by growing, we mean garnering so many views that it nearly broke YouTube's counter. 

The site originally used a 32-bit integer for its views (a counter limit of 2,147,483,647), but have now switched to a 64-bit integer (that's a whopping 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 limit). And just in time it seems because, at the time of writing, Gangnam style hit 2,157,827,565 views; well over Youtube's original limit. You can read YouTube's blogpost here.
