Pokemon Go became the biggest augmented reality game to hit the mobile scene and swept the world overnight. With both, long time Pokemon fans and newcomers to the franchise, partaking in the game, it really seemed like everyone was getting on the PokeGo bandwagon.

But alas, things have changed and users who were once fans are now criticising the game for a number of reasons. The current version of the game on Apple’s App Store has an abysmal user rating of just 1.5 stars, voted in by 20,286 users (at the time of writing this article.)

Concerns were raised earlier about the new update wiping out user data but the developers of Pokemon Go --  Niantic Inc-- assured gamers everywhere that the issue was a login glitch and users could get their data back.

Another problem that didn't sit well with users was that it had become increasingly difficult to find pokemons. Not only were users complaining about a broken tracking system on the app, the update also barred third party app from displaying the location of  Pokemon characters. With no other means of finding pokemons besides walking around with your phone in your hand looking for something that only you can see (like a crazy person), some users put their digressions in reviews.

“Ever since the new "update", it's been even harder to find Pokemon. My neighborhood never really had that many Pokemon, so now there isn't any, thanks to the spawn decrease,” said one user.

“The recent "three-step glitch" and the update aimed at "fixing" said glitch pushed an already struggling app over the edge. Instead of fixing the issue Niantic decided to remove the tracking system altogether. This makes finding Pokemon much more difficult, especially for players who cannot commit large amounts of time to wandering their neighborhoods hoping that a Pokemon listed as "nearby" is really nearby at all,” said another user.

The app still has a reasonable 4-star rating on Google Play Store for now, although some users reviews show obvious disdain for the app.

“Great! With the latest update pokemon are few and far between. When you do find a pokemon they have become nearly impossible to catch. It's now easy to use 5 to 10 pokeballs on a single low level pokemon. This is clearly a tactic by niantic to force players into spending real money on in game items,” said Aaron Holt in a review on Google Play Store.

For people feeling burned by Niantic, the Pokemon Go developers assure you they only had your best interests in mind.
