A special edition PlayStation 4 is being primed for November with Final Fantasy fans in mind, while new release dates for Disney-themed Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8, complex adventure NieR: Automata, sports title New Hot Shots Golf, action game Nioh and more have also been announced.

Priced at US $391, the Luna Edition model PlayStation 4 is decorated with a dark moon decal while both the console and its controller reference long-awaited same-day release, Final Fantasy XV, due to go on sale worldwide on November 29. The bundle contains a rental code for July's feature-length CGI movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, as well as the Final Fantasy XV game itself, and a complimentary dashboard theme code. Of note is the fact that this PlayStation 4 is not the newer, smaller version that debuts at retail from September 15, but the original design introduced in November 2013 (February 2014 in Japan.)

The press conference, hosted by Sony Interactive Entertainment, but featuring content from various publishers -- such as Final Fantasy XV label Square Enix -- took place ahead of the 2016 Tokyo Game Show which runs September 15-18, and confirmed release details for several titles that will be on display during the annual expo.

Crossovers, golf and anniversary titles

Among them, the Disney and Final Fantasy crossover collection Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue, once expected in December, is now set to launch January 12 in Japan and the following week internationally, as work continues on trilogy closer Kingdom Hearts III.

February 23 should see Japan take receipt of NieR: Automata, part of the Drag-on Dragoon or Drakengard franchise that has been going since 2003, and promising a more action-oriented approach than some of its predecessors, no doubt due to the proficiencies of its developer, PlatinumGames of Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Star Fox Zero fame.

Another well anticipated action game, the semi-historical Samurai affair Nioh, was announced for February 9. Early comparisons had been made to Bandai Namco's Dark Souls titles, which have enjoyed great success, meaning that Nioh represents Koei Tecmo's efforts to please a similar audience.

Moving over to more light-hearted fare, a New Hot Shots Golf extends a well-appreciated sporting series, now in its 20th year, onto PS4 with a debut for the home console; a mid-2017 release beckons for Japan.

And Itadaki Street, the Monopoly-style jaunt with board game features, is currently in its 25th year: crossover release Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy is to celebrate the 30th anniversaries of both Dragon Questand Final Fantasy when it arrives on PS4 and Vita in Japan for 2017.
