Ever since US President Donald Trump’s travel ban a few days ago, tech companies have been banding together to decry the anti-immigration measure, calling it “un-American”.

Twitter was just one of many voicing their displeasure, including the likes of Microsoft, Apple, Google, and Tesla.

Now, the micro-blogging platform has taken it a step further including it in one of their subsidiary apps.

Periscope users who start up the app on their smartphones will notice a new piece of text showing up on the loading screen. Right under the app’s logo is a line that reads, “Proudly made in America by immigrants.”

While this may not be the most tangible gesture towards immigrants affected by the ban in the US, it’s a step forward that clearly states the company’s stand on the issue.  “The recent executive order to halt immigration from seven countries in the Middle East and Africa has forced us to consider a disturbing alternate reality in which the Periscope team is irreparably changed,” the company said in a social media post. “Periscope is built, maintained, and operated by people from many faiths and countries. Without immigrants and refugees, Periscope would not exist. For this reason, we are updating the Periscope loading screen to make a simple true statement: ‘Proudly made in America by immigrants.’ We feel this is an important statement to make about who we are and the real impact of these policies.”

And not just this, a lot of leading tech giants have also taken steps to assist their foreign-descent employees in the country, with some like Airbnb even offering free housing to those affected by the Muslim ban.
