All of that capability in our smartphones and tablets today only comes to the fore when these devices are charged and ready to go. And when it comes to charging, the only reality we’ve been used to is the ubiquitous USB charger. However  we know too well the micro-frustration we face on a daily level attempting to plug devices into the end of a USB plug at 11PM with all the lights turned out.

Sure, there is the USB-C standard that brings orientation-free USB plugs, but there’s still the matter of physically plugging in a cable. If companies like India-based PowerSquare have anything to say, this is about to be a thing of the past. The company has recently launched their Tango wireless charging pad--all you need is to place a compatible mobile device onto its surface and the magic of wireless charging takes over.

The device is based on the Qi wireless charging standard being driven by the Wireless Charging Consortium (WPC,) a group that’s aiming to eliminate traditional power adapters. While there’s no question about the convenience of wireless charging, an inherent issue has been the slower charging times when compared to regular device chargers. But this is offset by the ease of being able to juice a device by simply placing a device on a charging pad.

The PowerSquare Tango takes even this convenience a step further--while most other wireless charging solutions require the device to be specifically oriented in a ‘sweet spot’ for wireless charging to activate, this device uses an Adaptive Position-Free (APF) technology that lets devices be placed on it in no particular fashion. Additionally, it also has the ability to simultaneously charge multiple devices on the same surface.

The Tango wireless charger imparts a premium experience with its semi-gloss champagne gold surface and rubberized black base that keeps it anchored. It comes with a 5V/3.5A adaptor and supports 5V/1A per device for up to two devices. Of course, your devices will need to either have integrated wireless charging capabilities, or would need to have aftermarket accessories available (for example, smartphone cases.) Phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Nexus 4/5/6/7 and certain others from Nokia and LG have wirless charging ability built-in. See here the list of supported phones.

PowerSquare Tango is being sold on Flipkart for 5,000, with a 20 percent discount currently in effect for the first batch of customers.
