Oppo launches R9s and R9s Plus smartphones in China unexpectedly as its successors R9 and R9 Plus were previously unveiled earlier in this year, in March. The Plus variant isn’t only bigger in size but differentiates from its siblings in terms of specifications as well. There is no surety whether both the phones will be available in India. Nevertheless, the Oppo R9s will go on sale from October 28th, which will be priced at 2,799 Yuan, approximately Rs. 27,700 and the R9s Plus will be available only in December, costing 3,499 Yuan, approximately  Rs 34,700.

Coming to the specifications, definitely, the R9s Plus will be the bigger and heavier from the lot as expected featuring a 6-inch Full HD screen coupled with a 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The smartphone is powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 SoC with an octa-core processor, clocking 1.95Ghz and Adreno 510 GPU. It packs a 4000mAh battery with an option to fast charge with VOCC flash charge technology.

On the other hand, the R9s is the smaller variant, sporting a 5.5 inch full HD display. Under the hood, it is packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 clocking more than the plus variant at 2GHz, but on the same octa-core processor. It is coupled with a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It is further expandable up to 128GB via hybrid sim slot, just like the R9s Plus. It comes with a smaller battery of 3010 mAh but it does include VOOC fast charging tech but skips out on OIS in the optics, which is available in R9s Plus.

The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus comes with a 16MP Sony IMX 398 sensor on the rear and touts a 16MP on the front for selfies. Both the devices glass is protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Moreover, the home button will be poised on the home button on both the models. Additionally, there will be a new slot antenna design at the top and bottom of the back of the phone. It comes to us as no surprise as most of the brands are on the working antennas due to high call drop factor and Oppo has done just the same. The devices will run on Android Marshmallow out of the box, skinned atop with ColorOS 3.0 UI.
