Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has a knack for making waves in the industry. When it launched the OnePlus One in 2013, it was an instant hit; a top-of-the-line device for only a mid-range price, and everybody wanted one. They've been working on a successor, the OnePlus Two, for a while now, and have already included a bunch exciting features, but yesterdays announcement on Twitter took the cake.

So, why is that a big deal? Firstly, Type C is a reversible USB, meaning you won't be fumbling and double checking whether you've inserted your cable the right way. But that's just the most obvious fact, one that is purely convenience. But what else can it do. Well, it has an extremely high data transfer rate, whopping 10GBps. It can also stream high quality video, meaning bye-bye HDMI ports. You can can use USB Type C to transfer video from phone to PC and back, and everything in between. The new standard can also carry a lot of power, about 100W. And lastly, USB Type C is a lot slimmer than existing standards, and is universal. This means we can soon see everything from laptops to tablets to phones get much skinnier, without sacrificing connectivity options.

But add all this in to OnePlus' previous announcement, and it looks like we have quite a monster of a phone on our hands. The OnePlus Two will have the latest Snapdragon 810 v2.1 octa-core 64-bit processor, with an Adreno 430 GPU strapped on for good measure. However, that might also mean it won't be nearly as friendly on our pockets as the OnePlus One.
