It looks like Facebook is now gearing up to take on the likes of Linkedin and Glassdoor. The company is reportedly testing a feature that would let page administrators create job postings, and receive applications from candidates directly on the social media site.

In conversation with Reuters, a Facebook spokesperson said, “Based on behaviour we’ve seen on Facebook, where many small businesses post about their job openings on their Page, we’re running a test for Page admins to create job postings and receive applications from candidates.”

The company is testing various options for recruitment via the Jobs tab on business pages. This way, administrators can promote job openings on their Facebook business page and receive applications from prospective candidates who will need to provide basic details such as job title, salary, full-time vs. part-time and other relevant information. The applications submitted will be received as a Facebook Message.

The world’s biggest social network could drive more traffic to their Facebook Pages, while allowing them to pay for the service, to get their application ahead of other candidates. This is similar to what LinkedIn does to offer paying candidates better visibility of their profiles. There is no word at the moment as to when the company will roll out this feature globally for its 1.75 billion monthly active users.
