On your Android device, installing an app has traditionally required firing up the Android Play Store app, searching, and tapping the Install button. But it will now be possible to install your favourite apps directly via Google search on your mobile device.

Launching a search using the Google search app on your phone shows a listing of matching results--the ones that have the Install button alongside enables that app to be installed directly on your device without having to even visit the Play Store.

The installation process is as before, with the app permissions and app popups you’re likely to encounter over the course of an app installation.

It’s a small time saver no doubt, but one that’s bound to save redundant taps in a mobile interface.

This feature is being taped out gradually--for now it’s only available on the mobile Google app and it shows up only with certain apps; it’s not clear whether the feature will be extended to Chrome browser-based searches.
