On the festive day of Easter, it’s a tradition for kids to go searching all over the house for hidden Easter eggs which they believe are left behind by the Easter bunny. But in this day and age, the young ones are more happy playing videogames. Keeping this in mind, the Christian Easter eggs hunting game has got a cool make-over.

Angry Birds Easter eggs are the newest fad to take off this holiday season. Namrata Kripalani, owner of Forennte Patisserie, said, “While the older generation is picking up the traditional decorative Easter Eggs, it’s the parents with school going kids that are buying the angry bird series.”

So at Forennte at Koregaon Park, not only can you find Easter Eggs in bright colours, edible Easter baskets and Easter bunnies, but a collection of all the birds from the popular application for ipad, ipod, iphone, itouch and Android.

“These Eggs were made out of chocolate while the decoration of the Angry Birds was done on top of it with fondant — a special sugar icing. Each of them is priced at Rs250 for a 200 gms chocolate egg. We hid gems and sweets inside the eggs which acted as a hidden treasure for the kids to discover,” said Namrata, who also got orders for Angry Birds cupcakes and cookies for Easter.

The premise of this addictive game is simple. The sneaky green pigs have stolen the eggs of the birds who obviously get very angry and want a revenge. The player assists the birds with a slingshot to destroy the pigs. The pigs are the ones who have stolen the eggs. Now, you can actually eat an egg made out of the piggy.
“The green evil pigs, who are the main villains of the game application, are as much as in demand for Easter as the red, yellow and black birds,” said Pirzad Amalsadiwalla, a dessert specialist who runs ‘La Mia Dolce Vita — A sweet life’ at Lulla Nagar.

The store has also made Easter eggs in the shapes of footballs, little dolls and teddy bears using sugar coating and marzipan.

Kevin D’costa, a 13-year-old Wanowrie resident, said, “When my mom got me the yellow Angry Bird Easter egg, I was very excited that I didn’t feel like eating it. I am saving it to take to the school on Monday to show it to all my friends.”
