In conversation with the Times of India, Ajey Mehta, President of HMD India stated that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 along with the Nokia 3310 will be launched at the end of Q2, 2017. This implies that we can expect the smartphones to hit the Indian market early July.
The report also points out that HMD will announce or launch all of the above mentioned smartphones at once. He says, “We have launched 3 smartphones and 2 feature phones in the first leg. In a few months, we will launch another set of smart and feature phones. In the next one year, we want to have phones across price points to be in alignment with our mission to have something for everybody. We are looking at various options to rope in die-hard fans of Nokia such as exchanging of old phones, credit facilities etc.”
In terms of specifications, the Nokia 3 sports a 5-inch display, MediaTek MTK 6737 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage along with a microSD card slot. It includes an 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. A 2,650mAh battery completes the package.
The Nokia 5 includes a 5.2-inch display and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It includes an internal storage of 16GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB. It comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. A 3,000mAh battery completes the package.
The Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 430 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing camera. A 3,000mAh battery completes the package. The smartphone was well received after its initial release in the Chinese market and managed to garner 250,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours.
