Microsoft recently released a new update for Windows 10 for phones. Suffixed Build 10080, this version supports phones like the Lumia 930, Lumia 640 and 640XL as well as the HTC One (M8) for Windows.

Among the many new inclusions under the hood are:

Windows Store beta for phones: Aiming to meld the experience with Windows Store on the PC, Windows Store beta for phones is the one-stop location for all things Windows app related. Of course the app selection in this release will be a limited subset of currently available Windows apps. But you can still download and even pay for the ones that are listed. The current Windows Store is also available in this build.

Universal Office apps: Finally, you can download and use the Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote preview apps.

Xbox app: This app enables gamers to access their activity feed, achievements, friends list, activity alerts, messages, view game clips and connect to an Xbox One. Future updates to this app will see things like Live TV Streaming, Game hubs and more being added. See more on the app’s functionality here.

Music preview app: With this app you can now browse and play video files (including those created using the MKV format) on your Windows phone. You can also filter, sort and add folders of videos that will be included in your collection. Watching a purchased video on your PC can be stopped and resumed on a mobile device, and future updates to this app will enable downloading movies and TV shows for offline playback, read movie reviews, cast information and more.

A new camera app: The camera in your Windows phone now has features like HDR and face recognition for still shots and stabilization for videos.

Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview is available for download here (you’ll need to sign up for the program). But be aware that this being a preview, it is likely to be far from stable: we recommend against installing it on your daily use device, unless you’re a mobile phone Ninja and are completely comfortable with running new and untested OS updates.
