New software helps write better resumes for job seekers

A new software for job-seekers can now assist them in how to craft their resumes or CVs to get past Application Tracking Software (ATS).

Hu built Jobscan after getting inspired to develop the software because he had trouble finding a job in the US after a two-year stint working in China, TechCrunch reported.

Hu said that there were people who were working for ten or20 years and then they got laid off or had to switch jobs and they did not even know how to find a job because when they first started working, they could write a resume, mail it in and it would be reviewed by a real person but now one is just a record in the system.

Jobscan automatically finds important terms and phrases in a job description and shows users how frequently they appear and then it compares their resume against the description and makes suggestions on how to improve it. Hu built Jobscan, which was launched in January 2014 and is currently bootstrapped, to automate the process of identifying keywords in order to increase the chances of landing an interview.

Jobscan currently monetises through a subscription plan and users get five free scans per month, but the startup gives 50 free scans to people who have been unemployed for a year or longer.
