NBA 2K15 is the most gorgeous NBA simulation video game ever released, but it's not just that it's also the most realistic NBA game that you will come across. 2K has polished every aspect of it's NBA experience with everything from gameplay to overall depth and immersion in this edition of NBA 2K, making this game easily the best of the NBA 2K series so far. I did play NBA 2K14, and this definitely feels like an upgrade over last years version.
NBA isn't the most anticipated game of the year, but for those who want something different outside of the regular Battlefield and Need for Speed, its got some solid promise. The game offers a unique learning curve that is lost in some areas of the gaming industry, by making you want to constantly get better at the game and rewarding you when you are. The game also teaches you a lot about NBA while actually providing a enjoyable experience.
The NBA community is not as large as many games you see in the market today but it does have good one, players are patient and helpful and are always entertaining you with fun facts about the game.
Pros:
You can't play NBA 2K15 without noticing how visually stunning the game is, it feels almost lifelike with truly high definition fluid graphics
A lot of thought has gone into the game's artificial intelligence which makes sure you cant just dribble your way through the court to score a three pointer or a layup.
Cons
Since the launch, server connectivity has been a big problem, especially when you need it to do small things like upgrade your player in MyCareer. MyTeam and MyPlayer are also affected by bad server connectivity, although there is a patch promised, there shouldn’t be reason that all this should be dependent on online connectivity. Sony is going against their company policy of not doing refunds on digital purchases for NBA 2K15, displays the seriousness of the issue.
Career Mode
The career mode has always been a positive aspect of the NBA 2K series, but this year 2K has taken it to a whole new level. This year's career mode ropes in everybody from the absolute beginner to the seasoned veteran, for absolute beginners with little to no knowledge of basketball, there are diagrams telling you where to go and what to do.
The most interesting part of the career mode however is the story it tells where you play an undrafted player who can try out for their favorite club, in a new unique way. Depending on what your play style is and which club you apply for, you must prove your worth to continue playing for that club competing with the best of that club. On the other hand, you can choose to try out with a club that is not at the top of the game but gives you a better chance at the starting lineup and perform well and attempt to shift in the off-season.
MyPark
NBA 2K's online multiplayer competitive street mode, My Park is a great concept for online for Online play if you manage to actually play. The fact that being able to play is a thing of chance definitely makes it a rough experience for now. It has a lot of future potential though.
Music
2K has taken the music of NBA 2K15 to a whole new level collaborating with famous artist and producer Pharrell Williams to curate the the soundtrack compilation for the game.
“It was a cool experience. I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers,” said Williams. “It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15. I hope everyone enjoys it.”
