Google has been serving users with its translation services since a long time now. The recently launched Microsoft Translator app seems to give a challenge to Google on the translation front. The Microsoft Translator provides text-to-text translation for its users in 50 different languages while Google offers translation in only 27 languages currently. However, Google allows its users to point their camera at a word and the app automatically translates it for them. This is not possible in the Microsoft app.

Along with smartphones and tablets, the app is extended to the Apple Watch and Android wear smartwatches. The Microsoft translator allows the Apple Watch users to speak directly into their watch to translate text. Google does not make a version of its app for Android Wear smartwatches, offering an advantage to Microsoft.

The Microsoft Translator is now available for iOS and Android platforms.
