The website of the doomed airline that is still recovering from the two disasters that took place last year, the disappearance of MH370 and shooting down of MH17,  was hacked over the weekend by a group that calls itself, "Lizard Squad - Official Cyber Caliphate."

Malaysian Airlines' homepage showed a photograph of a lizard that wore a top hat and tuxedo. The company confirmed that its website had been compromised but added that the customers' bookings and data were not affected, reported the BBC. The website's homepage was replaced by the words "404 - Plane Not Found" and "Hacked by Lizard Squad" on Monday.

Initially the words "ISIS will prevail" appeared in the browser tab for the webpage but that has since disappeared. However, neither the reason behind the attack is clear nor the connection of the hackers' group to the Islamic State (IS), the report said. The Lizard Squad's Twitter account claimed that it would release data from Malaysia Airlines, but did not specify what information it might have.
