Data loss is something most people have to deal with at some point. The only difference is that some people are aware that their data can be easily recovered if they don't overwrite those files by doing other things on their computer after they have lost their data. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery
Stellar's Windows data recovery software is available in three versions, one for home, another for professional use and the third for use by technicians or IT staff. We tested the professional edition that retails for $99 or Rs 6600. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery provides you with four options using which you can recover your data. The first of which is optical disc recovery, that also allows you to recover data from a damaged optical media storage disc. The application supports recovery from optical media discs burnt on Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Macintosh systems.
The second option is photo recovery, which allows you to recover lost or deleted image files from existing volumes, hard drives, memory cards, or removable storage devices. It supports the recovery of digital camera raw images from multiple manufacturers including Nikon, Canon, Sony and more. The third option is email recovery, the feature will help you recover deleted emails, contacts, tasks, and reminders from Microsoft Outlook. You can also recover deleted emails from Microsoft Outlook Express. Recovered emails can be saved in three different file formats - PST, EML, and MSG. The final option is data recovery from your hard disk. This has the option to recover deleted files, advanced scans and RAW recovery. The software performed really well overall. The only thing it wasn't able to do was to recover temporary and partially overwritten files.
Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery
Stellar's Mac data recovery software is able to recover your documents, photos, music or videos lost due to deletion from any HFS, HFS+, FAT, ExFAT and NTFS formatted Mac. Even though my MacBook Pro was encrypted, I was able to effectively recover deleted data. Recovering data with missing filenames can be a real pain, taking that into consideration, all deleted files are recovered on this software with their original file names, except during RAW recovery of course. Compatible with the latest El Capitan 10.11, the software allows you to perform Time Machine recovery. Since scans can take a lot of time, the software allows you to save scan information to resume recovery process from the same point, at a later stage. It also has an option to create an image of a complete hard drive or partition on the drive. This image file can be used to recover lost data even when the actual hard drive is not available.
Recuva
Recuva has the best free version of a recovery software I have ever tested. Both free and paid versions can recover pictures, music, documents, videos, emails or any other file type you've lost due to deletion. It can recover data from any rewriteable media that you may have including memory cards, external hard drives and USB sticks amongst others.
