Apple may not have the waterproofing on its devices that some of its Android competitors are now focusing on, but the tech giant is attempting to remedy that.

A new iOS feature spotted in the third beta version of iOS 10 warns a user when their iPhone’s Lightning port is wet. Spotted by EverythingApplePro the feature so far only works with the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE, though the feature could theoretically be introduced for every iOS device with a Lightning port.

If there’s moisture in the Lightning port, the iPhone will display the following message:

Disconnect Lightning Accessory

Liquid has been detected in the Lightning connector.
To protect your iPhone, disconnected this Lightning accessory and allow the connector to dry.

According to the YouTube video, the warning may occasionally take a few seconds before popping up, at which point the damage might already have been done. However, something is definitely an improvement over no moisture protection whatsoever.
