Photo sharing app Instagram has crossed the 400 million user mark, with more than 80 million pictures shared daily across platforms. It's a big jump from the Facebook-owned service's 300 million user milestone at the start of this year, and more than Twitter's monthly userbase by nearly 100 million.
"Our community has evolved to be even more global, with more than 75 percent living outside of the US. Among the last 100 million to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia," the company said in a blog post. "Also, a few notable names have joined Instagram in the last 100 million. The most followed accounts include David Beckham from the UK, Caitlyn Jenner from the US, Indonesia’s Raffi and Nagita, German soccer player Toni Kroos and South Korea’s T.O.P."
Instagram has been constantly updating it's services in the past few months, adding support for landscape and portrait orientation last month, in addition to their pre-existing square images, as well as launching a customised app for the Apple Watch.
