Despite multiple attempts at reinvention, BlackBerry have struggled in their efforts to revive their smartphone line. As such, the company is working on its last in-house smartphone, confirmed CEO John Chen last month.

Leaks coming out in China show a new device, codenamed Mercury, with images on Weibo revealing a few key aspects. The photos show a new smartphone very similar in looks to BlackBerry’s last offering, the Priv. However, the Qwerty keyboard here is affixed below the display, instead of sliding out from beneath. In addition, it also feature hard menu buttons instead of the Priv’s soft keys.

The Mercury is also rumoured to have a fingerprint scanner integrated into the QWERTY spacebar. It’s expected to feature  a Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, a 4.5-inch display, 18MP rear camera and 8MP front cam. The BlackBerry Mercury is expected to be released some time in December and begin shipping in 2017, though the price is as yet unknown.
